Milton Perlman died Feb. 18, 2014, at Avante in Harrisonburg. He was born March 19, 1919, in Memphis, Tenn. His parents were Frank and Mary (Deschler) Perlman.
Milton Perlman attended Memphis public schools and graduated from St. John’s College (Annapolis), University of Grenoble and U.Va. He taught French at JMU from 1963 to 1984. He was a member of Beth El Congregation in Harrisonburg.
Milton Perlman was preceded in death by his wife, Louisa (Gleeson) Perlman and brothers, Louis and Saul Perlman. He is survived by his children, Maggie Perlman of Oakland, Calif., Maureen Molmen and husband, Bill, of Oakland, Calif., Esther Clark and husband, Jeff, of Portland, Ore., and David Perlman and wife, Cuc Chau, of Houston, Texas. He is survived by his grandchildren, David Molmen, Marjorie Molmen, Ming Perlman, Reese Perlman and Andy Perlman. He is also survived by his half brother, Edward Rubenstein.
Rabbi Joe Blair will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Beth El Congregation in Harrisonburg.
The family is grateful to Rosa Gonzalez and Daniel Umbel for the exceptional care they provided in Milton’s last few years.
